What is the difference between curtains and blinds?

Curtains are a versatile, well-liked option for every area of the house - including bathrooms and kitchens - available in a broad variety of widths, lengths, fabrics, colours and patterns. Blinds differ in that they lack continuous fabric and use lifting mechanisms or cords. Both can be operated manually or via motorisation.

What kinds of blinds are best for bathrooms?

Popular bathroom options include PVC plantation shutters, roller blinds, venetian blinds and vertical blinds - in plastic, aluminium or composite materials. We avoid timber in wet areas because it absorbs moisture.

What is a better option - window blinds or curtains?

Full-length S-fold sheer curtains work beautifully in large spaces, whereas blinds are preferable in smaller rooms such as the kitchen and bathroom. Blinds also suit areas with furniture - like beds or sofas - sitting beneath the windows.

How long should curtains be?

For fixed panels, curtains should lightly brush the floor - long enough to look tailored, but not so long they gather in a pile. The current trend favours ceiling-to-floor sheer curtains on track systems for elegant, wall-to-wall coverage.

Which blinds are best for insulation?

Cellular (honeycomb) blinds have hexagonal cells that trap air in their gaps. Two-cell configurations outperform single-cell options, making cellular shades among the most energy-efficient window treatments available.

Are blinds energy efficient?

Yes - blinds offer energy efficiency comparable to shutters. They excel more at reducing summer heat gain than winter heat loss, and their adjustable design gives you great control over light and ventilation in the warmer months.

What types of blinds do you supply?

We supply vertical, venetian, Holland roller, roman and day/night blinds, blinds with motorisation control, and more - all custom made to your windows.

Can you supply blinds and curtains for a commercial environment?

Yes. We supply commercially manufactured products to local businesses - typically flame-retardant, contract-grade materials - with professional specification guidance included.

What are your payment terms?

Normally a 50% deposit is required at the time of ordering, with the balance due before installation. We accept credit cards, bank transfer and cash.

I've made a mistake - can I change my order?

Contact us immediately if you notice an error. We'll always try to help, but we often begin production very quickly - typically the next day after check-measure. Once production has commenced, changes or cancellations are no longer possible.

What warranty do I have on my product?

Maple Blinds warrants that all of its window-covering items will be free from defects in both materials and manufacturing. See our Warranty page for full details.

Where can blinds be installed?

Just about anywhere - homes, workplaces, retail locations, healthcare centres, hotels and dining venues. Specific areas include balconies, terraces, entryways and bathrooms, using the appropriate blind type for each.

How long does it take between ordering and installation?

Timeframes vary by product, but it's generally two to eight weeks from check-measure, reflecting the custom production of every order.

Can you give advice on textures, colours, etc.?

Absolutely. Our consultants advise on both traditional patterns and contemporary designer fabrics, and your free measure & quote includes personalised colour and pattern recommendations.
